At Oxomohco Birth & Body Work, we are honored to support you and your family through the transformative journey of labor and birth. Our role as your birth doula is to provide compassionate, grounded, and personalized care so you feel informed, confident, and empowered as you welcome your baby.

What We Offer

Our comprehensive Birth Doula Package includes prenatal preparation, continuous support during labor, and postpartum care to meet your family’s unique needs.

Our Services Include:

Prenatal Visits

Each prenatal meeting is designed to prepare families for their home birth experience by covering essential logistics, comfort techniques, and postpartum planning. These sessions ensure that parents feel informed, supported, and ready for their unique birth journey.

Meeting #1: Home Birth Setup & Logistics (2 hours)

In this session, we focus on ensuring the home environment is properly prepared for a smooth and supported birth experience.

Logistics & Birth Planning

  • Discuss how, where, and why birth preferences to align on expectations.

  • Confirm the home birth setup—review space needs and required birth supplies.

  • Ensure that all necessary items are ordered by 34–35 weeks, including:

    • Home birth kit & tub liner (if using a birth tub).

    • Review any additional supplies.

Preparing the Birth Space

  • Discuss the ideal setup for the birth environment, including:

    • Space for midwifery care including supplies.

    • Bed preparation

    • Birth tub considerations and setup plan.

Class: Medical Vocabulary & Labor Process

  • Introduction to common medical terms used during labor.

  • Understanding anatomy and labor progression, including

  • Special focus on your Midwife’s role in labor development.

  • Homework

Meeting #2: Emergency Overview & Coping Strategies (2 hours)

This session focuses on safety, emergency protocols, and emotional preparedness for labor.

Emergency Protocols & Birth Rights

  • Overview of home birth safety measures and midwife’s transfer protocol.

  • Discussion on birth rights and informed decision-making.

  • Creating a personalized emergency plan, including:

    • Hospital transfer plan (if necessary).

    • Understanding when and why transfers happen.

    • Emergency decision-making: Discuss critical choices that may need to be made.

Labor Mindset & Coping Strategies

  • Preparing mentally and emotionally for labor at home.

  • Exploring coping techniques and personalizing comfort measures.

  • Partner’s role: How they can be the best support person during labor.

(Optional) Newborn Care Introduction

  • Early newborn needs, skin-to-skin, and first latch.

Meeting #3: Immediate Postpartum & Recovery (2 hours, in person)

This session helps families prepare for postpartum healing and newborn care.

Postpartum Healing & Recovery

  • Understanding normal bleeding and postpartum body changes.

  • Discussion of sleep patterns for parents and baby.

  • The importance of la cuarentena (traditional postpartum rest & healing).

Nourishment & Postpartum Support

  • Planning meals & hydration for postpartum recovery.

  • Food conversation: Nutrient-dense meals to support healing.

Mini Review: Breastfeeding Basics

  • What to expect in the early days of breastfeeding.

  • Common challenges and how to support a strong latch.

(Optional) Newborn Care Deep Dive

  • Bathing, diapering, and early newborn communication.

Meeting #4: Open Discussion & Final Preparations (2 hours, in person or virtual)

This session is designed to wrap up any unfinished conversations from previous meetings and ensure families feel fully prepared for birth and postpartum.

Continuing the Conversation

  • Each meeting is always personalized, and topics naturally evolve.

  • Any subjects not fully covered in earlier meetings will be continued here.

  • Open space for questions, clarifications, and final concerns.

Final Birth & Postpartum Preparation

  • Ensuring the birth plan feels complete and aligned with preferences.

  • Reviewing logistics, supplies, and last-minute to-dos.

  • Checking in on emotional and mental readiness for birth.

Final Support for Partners & Family

  • Revisiting the partner’s role and ensuring they feel confident in their support.

  • Addressing any family involvement or household needs.

By the end of this session, families will feel empowered, informed, and ready for their home birth experience!

On-Call Support

Starting at 38 weeks of pregnancy, our team will be on call 24/7 to support you. Whether by phone, text, or video call, we are available to provide guidance and encouragement as you approach labor.

Labor Support

When labor begins, you can contact us as soon as you feel the first signs. Once you confirm you’d like us by your side, we’ll arrive within 45min - 60 minutes (depending on location).

During labor, we will:

  • Provide continuous emotional and physical support

  • Offer relaxation techniques and positions to encourage comfort and baby’s descent

  • Share resources and information to help you make informed decisions

  • Support your partner so they feel confident in their role

  • Ensure you and your partner stay nourished and hydrated

  • Give your partner breaks as needed while maintaining uninterrupted care

We will remain with your family for a few hours after birth to ensure you feel settled, supported, and ready for quiet bonding time.

Postpartum Visits

Your package includes 1–2 postpartum visits within 5–10 days after birth, each lasting 2 hours. During these visits, we provide:

  • Traditional postpartum care (belly binding, warm drink of choice)

  • Baby care tips and support

  • A space to reflect on and process your birth experience

  • Referrals to trusted community resources, as needed

Additional postpartum visits can be booked separately.

What We Don’t Do

As your doulas, we do not:

  • Perform medical or clinical tasks (e.g., exams, diagnoses, fetal heart checks)

  • Make decisions for you

  • Guarantee specific birth or recovery outcomes

  • Deliver your baby

Fees & Booking

  • A $500 non-refundable deposit secures your care.

  • Flexible payment plans are available to meet your family’s needs.

  • Additional services outside the package will be charged separately.
